Growing Up

A bit like primates we are
Biting our nails
for something to chew,
Picking our skin where it hangs
Subconsciously carrying the dark ages
through Heredity.

Savages:
Without education
or learned customs
our culture would be as bred
as an Irish Setter
or a Stallion...
fearful and playful...

Having moods unconnected to a brain
of reasoned movement.
Acting on impulse
Like any girl protesting her womanhood.
